Looks sleek. Hopefully they've put some resources into sorting out the illegal lineup issues too. That's got to be one of the most counter-intuitive UI decisions I've ever seen; why would I ever want a current lineup move to render a future lineup illegal?
Hmm, so they just changed the skin. It looks okay, although I do like how on the existing site, I can see the quick news updates about my players "above the fold", whereas on the new one, I practically have to scroll to the bottom to see it. Looks like the actual players and team pages didn't change though, just the skin.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I wonder if redeveloping the underlying mechanics will be done in a future phase? The main benefit that I've noticed is that it appears to have been developed to be responsive, so that'll benefit mobile users as some have already alluded. Overall the various elements seem to be bigger, which does push content further down the page. It looks clean, but I'm not sure if this is a benefit to the user experience. I suppose it's the direction modern web design is going though...

I just noticed that the roster pages have the following message: New design in progress... Hang tight! We're working through these pages and will release a new mobile-friendly version of this page as quickly as possible!
That would suggest that we'll get an improvement on that front too!

I saw that, although I have a feeling it's just the UX not UI being changed.

This may be new since the official launch of the new design, but you can now change the order of the sections by clicking on the "gear icon" at the top right corner of the main page:

Hmm, didn't see that. Any setup you've played around with that you suggest?

I'd definitely go with the very compact design, and putting the match-ups in the right column. I like having the player news after the current match-ups (as you can see in my screenshot), but it's quite a long list, so I may end up tweaking this.
