So dying for hockey to start. And wanting to discuss with everyone.
1. Who has the breakout year, prospect?
2. Which players surprise or disappoint for this year?
3. Who are you dying to see in the NHL this year?
1. I am looking at Boeser, Keller, Barzel, and Patrick, and McAvoy off the top of my head.
2. Surprise: K.Hayes returns to form. Vesey looks like a beast. Sharpie hits 20g. Raanta is missed. Duchene is actually traded. Darling makes the Canes relevant. Stammer wins Rocket and is healthy all season. Eberle reminds why he was a no.1 pick. Saros displaces Rinne
Disappoint:. Probably last yr for the King at a Cup. Bishop and Rinne underperform. Buffalo still sucks. Drouin gets 30g but Habs just miss playoffs. Kuch only hits 50pts. Breadman misses Kaner. Caps barely make playoffs
3. Debrincat, Glass, Demko, Sergachev, Ek, and Milano
1. I think Dylan Strome will surprise alongside Keller. #3 draft pick just needed more time and he will have a good year. I also believe Pavel Zacha will get some good playing time now that Zajac is injured.
2. JT MIller as a Rangers fan will surprise. He will continue his trend upwards. I also think Raanta will thrive in Arizona. I think Arizona can be this years Maple Leafs. Will be fighting for a playoff spot. James Neal will surprise by keeping his numbers steady, when I think most people think his numbers will decrease on a shitty Vegas team.
Kucherov will disappoint. I'm not saying he will have a bad season, he will likely finish top 2 in scoring in Tampa, but all pre-draft rankings have him in the top 6 picks and I don't think he's a top 6 pick after one lights out season. I also think Arvidsson will disappoint and there is too much hype around him
3. I really want to see Lias Andersson make the Rangers if he's good enough to play 3C. It'd be nice if Jake Walman played this year for my fantasy team!

1. Aside from the obvious ones you mentioned and the neglect of Hicshier, I'll also assume Pool Party makes the roster and can actually in the NHL this season.
2. Surprise: Mzerak is out of Detroit, SJ and Jones regress, make playoffs as a wild card team. Rangers miss the playoffs, because Metro division. Mike Smith plays like its 2011-2012 and the Flames win a playoff series.
Disappointments: Vancouver still places bottom 3, missed out on lottery. Ducks fall back a bit in the standings and their defense looks shakier than before. The Devils team and inevitably Cory Schneider trade rumors will surface again like last season.
3. Mike Mcleod, Raddysh, Alex Nylander, Liljegren.
2. Panarin struggles under Tortorella's system and the Blue Jackets regression though his talent is still on show, Werenski also regresses a good bit while Jones is fantastic, Mason is stellar in Winnipeg while one of the Flames young goalies steals half the starts, Rinne/Saros become the new Fleury/Murray
3. All the prospects listed in the first question as well as Dunn, Debrincat, Ho-Sang, and Jost.
2. Panarin and Rakell score even more than last year. Callahan puts together a mostly healthy year (60+ games) scoring over 2 FPPG. Maroon and Kesler regress
1. Hoping Chabot can come into Methot's roll. Also Keller and hoping Point is given a larger roll. Nolan Patrick has something to prove, he was consistently ranked as the 1st overall pick since he was 14.
2. Think Bobby Ryan can be the player he was in the playoffs, I hope anyway. I'm excited to see the Russian in Las Vegas too, see how the KHL can translate to the NHL. Think Ceci will put in another bad year and his trade value will evaporate, hope I'm very wrong though. But he's on his way to be the next Jared Cowen.
3. Colin White, Thomas Chabot, Nick Paul, Marcus Hogberg, Ottawa Senators Matt Duchene and hopefully Logan Brown.
2. Surprises: I don't know if you'd consider it a surprise but I bet Tavares has the year of his life heading into Free Agency. Maroon will score 30 tap-ins from McDavid, and sign an expensive extension before the season is over. Then he will never get close to 30 again. Brodie will have a career year. OEL too now that he has Hjalmarsson. Kucherov and Stamkos will be the highest scoring duo this season. Hedman wins the Norris. Backlund wins the Selke
Disappointments: Panarin without Kane, and probably Kane as well. Elliott will be shaky in Philly, one bad goal just gets in his head. And with a rookie D core those will happen. Ovi has the worst year of his NHL career, but wins a gold medal in Korea. Matthews faces tougher competition all year long and barely scores 20 goals.
1. Who has the breakout year, prospect? -- Keller I think is an obvious one here. But I'm really interested to see how Puljujarvi does in EDM this year. I think with Eberle gone, it's his spot to lose
2. Which players surprise or disappoint for this year? -- Surprise is going to be Ryan Reaves in PIT. Totally gonna double his career high 126 PIM haha. But I'm really like Darling in CAR. think he's gonna be great this year.
3. Who are you dying to see in the NHL this year? -- Vadim Shipachyov. Dude was an absolute stud in Russia and think he's gonna turn a lot of heads this year
