I agree, I would also say after the NHL draft is great but it will depend on time anyway. However, you have to consider the late rounds of the prospect draft wont impact the starting roster for a while anyway so I think it would be ok to start it later, as long as we can finish, say, 10-15 rounds before the NHL season starts.

I think having both running concurrently will help to encourage people check more often and stay engaged. Yeah it might complicate things but it also could spur some trade like if somebody really wants Francois Beaucheman in the regular draft it makes it easier to visualize a trade to take the slot to get him. I'll publicly say I voted ten but really I'd take anything before the end if there's support
I like the earlier alternatives re: staying engaged, and also allowing for less imperfect information about pick value. That being said, as long as we get through everything expediently, I think it will be fine.
I would prefer not too much overlap if possible mostly because I am moving at some point in the next two weeks so I would prefer not to be managing multiple drafts at once while that is happening. If we start the prospect draft at round 20 at least it will be less important players overall for one of the drafts which should be more manageable.
Another note is that if we start the prospect at the beginning of an even numbered NHL draft round then it will be approximately the same people OTC in both drafts which could be a good thing or a bad thing. For example Boston has the 1st pick in the first round of the prospect draft and the 1st pick in the 20th round of the NHL draft. I think starting it at round 19 might be better so people have enough time to decide on their picks without being rushed by both drafts at once.

I had originally argued in favour of a round 10-15 start due to engagement purposes. I would personally prefer not having to wait 2 days in between picks, as has happened on a few occasions already. It looks as though the round 20 option is pulling away, which is fine, but I would've liked to see a bit more overall action!

I think 17 is a good compromise and that way its not starting at an even numbered draft round either. Maybe we could do another poll between just 17 and 20?

I was going to suggest 19 if 20 wins by more than 5 votes and 17 if it was a close vote as a compromise. But I guess let's see where we are at after all 20 people vote.

At the moment it's 7 votes in favour of starting before round 20, and 8 for starting at 20. The majority seems to want a later start for the propsect draft, but at the same time, a large number feel as though round 20 is too late. I also agree with Anaheim's assessment, that staggering the two drafts would be more ideal. I would therefore be happy with round 17 as a decent compromise.
