There's no way he'd be able to open that monster on mobile, it's way to big. And he might not even have cellular data. At this point in the draft, it would be very hard for him to guess who's available, so I think he should just let someone of his choice autograft for him... If we don't boot him.
Actually i'm gonna come back to say that I really like this idea. It's a form of punishment for "you didn't prepare, you get what you get" but also that it doesn't mean he will go.
LOL we just changed both our opinions to agree with one another
Ok, general consensus is don't boot him. I'll respect this.
Let's move on with the draft. I have his 1st prospect pick.
If we come to his NHL pick and he has not gotten back to me then we will auto move on. He will continue missing picks until the end of the NHL draft.
For the propsect draft, I will make his first selection. We will wait 12 hours for his 2nd propsect pick. If he does not pick then it WILL GO TO VOTE. But it's not my word to boot him. We will vote on it. Everybody can still decide if he stays in.
We will do the same thing for this 3rd propsetc pick as it comes up quicky. WE WILL VOTE. We can vote to keep him in.
If we get out his 4th prospect pick and he is still not here....I will want to boot him, NO VOTE.

I feel like this is being super nice....
I agree with this, if we are able to vote on what happens after the 2nd round Prospect pick, i.e. pause the draft, autodraft, drop the pick, etc. If the majority wants to stick with the original rules, then that's that, but I think we should have the choice.

I think we vote on whether or not to boot him. IF we do boot him, then we need to decide what happens with this pick. If we don't boot him, I think he needs the 5 round penalty as this is still his team and he was not here to make his pick.
On second thought, a break might not be a bad choice. We finish up the first round and a half of the prospect draft, and then wait for TBL. We're making great time. Also, I really agree with Washington's points about making this a fun, chill league. If Tampa really messes up in the future, then as you said NYR (Rob), the guys on the waiting list wouldn't mind having a team that they don't own.
Yeah, let's just continue the draft and cross the bridge when we come to it (his next pick in either draft). It's lame, but we're making great time. Would a compromise be to just continue, put him on the clock for 12 hrs when it gets to him, and if he misses again, go from there? I don't think that's punishing him for going on vacation- NYR has been texting him, so he has info- whether he uses it will be up to him. He's already submitted a prospect pick, which will be chosen at no. 5 for him. Let's not derail the whole thing just because of this, nor throw our frustrations on the guy either.
Like Penguins said, im fine with whatever too. I want this draft to be over though so i really dont want a stoppage. Id rather just move his picks down the 5 and continue on.
I think there are 2 sides here. First, the positives:
* He notified us (or Commish) that he was going away * He provided a list (not a great one, but the effort was there) of people to choose from in the draft
Now the negatives
* He didn't say when he'd be back * He's had an issue in the past where he missed his pick
Here's my suggestion:
His NHL pick today was skipped and moved down 5 rounds. Assuming his prospect pick is good, we don't anticipate an issue with him until the 2nd prospect round and/or the 17th NHL round. My proposal is to auto-draft him based on the spreadsheet of next best for no more than 3 rounds. If we get to the 4th prospect pick or 20th NHL round and he's not back, he's booted.
I say this because if he ends up getting booted, we still want a fair playing field for the person taking over his team and not have them starting crippled by missing out on so many picks. It's not fair to them. This also keeps the draft moving at a nice pace.
I disagree with pausing the draft until next week as we do need to push this forward. I know NYR and myself will be going on vacation (well, I'll be working, but unavail) in about a month and I'm sure others will take some time off here and there too. It's important that we keep this moving, but also keep things fair.

I agree with most of this besides the auto draft. We also don't want to reward Tampa for missing picks if he gets here.
I think we skip the picks but they don't drop 5 rounds. If we do replace him for the 4th round, the new owner makes three straight picks to make up for missed picks. It's not a huge disadvanTage.

I think what the Rangers are offering is fair that is a lot of time to do what needs to be done. Also I have an S5 phone and I can open the Google doc no problem. I have done most of my planning at work while on break from my phone.

Okay, I'm fine with that. Main point is a) not slowing down the draft and waiting 12 hours each time and b) ensuring if replaced, the next guy isn't crippled.
At 10 am I plan on sending out a message with the official way we are dealing with this. Tampa will be on the message so he is aware of everything that is going on and he has a fair chance to get back to us.

Please also send the message to his email, or text him that you sent a message. I personally don't get notified of messages on the forum, so unless I come on specifically to check, they do me no good.

Not sure if you know, but you can change that in your settings. I get emailed each time I'm messaged.

I'll send a PM so he should get an email. I plan on texting him and emailing him anyway. I've done this all the way through...still no response.

Yup, but I don't think it's the default option. I check regularly enough for that not to be an issue for me, and prefer to have an uncluttered inbox.

I agree that autodraft just isnt the way to go. The whole point of drafting the way we have is so that we aren't pulling from a random spreadsheet for absent owners. If he isn't back by that 2nd prospect, or at least given us some clue as to what we should expect, then we really should just accept that it isn't working.
