Bob McKenzie here. I'm gonna be counting down the top 5 steals of the RDHL draft.
#1. Artemi Panarin
When Panarin was drafted at the end of the 10th round of the prospects draft, nobody, except for maybe Tampa, thought he could be this good. 24 years old, and 28 points in 28 games in his first year adjusting to north american ice, he has been a steal.
#2. Mike Hoffman
Hoffman is having another stellar season. After having a very productive year last year, Hoffman slipped to the 11th round where the NYRs were more than happy to snag him up. Currently has 27 points in 24 games, and is still heating up. Just entering his prime at 26 years old.
#3. Mike Camelleri
Cammelleri fell all the way to the 14th round, one reason being he is 33 and the other he is playing on what was thought to be the offensively challenged NJ Devils. Has Calgary looking like a genius with him putting up 30 points in 28 games.
#4. Colton Paryko
Back to back spots go to Calgary with choosing Paryko all the way in round 14. Hasn't been one of the best rookie defenseman this year, but has been one of the dman in the entire league. 14 points in 26 games are serious numbers for a rookie.
#5. Adam Henrique
Last spot goes to Columbus for his 11th round pick. Henrique has been simply amazing putting up 23 points in 28 games on the Devils.
Honorable mentions: Palmieri (another Devil that has suprised), Larkin (went in 4th round and looks to be a rookie of the year nominee), and Lindberg (another guy that came outta no where)
