They are good but would like to see something of a penalty for allowing more than 3 goals. I don't know if it's possible or if it would effect anything significant.
If it makes no difference I am fine with how it is
Like I said in the previous thread I think it would be nice to have bad goalie starts hurt more and good goalie starts be worth more. I'll throw a few ideas out there.
Perhaps we could add a Quality start category. If you get a quality start you get +1 if you don't you get -1. Or some variation there of. I am not sure if Fantrax has this category but quality starts are defined as any start where a goalie provides a league average save percentage (0.917) or higher, or allows two goals or fewer with a save percentage above 0.885. Essentially, did the goalie have a night where he gave his team a chance to win? I think it is a solid stat that aids good goalies on bad teams who have high save percentage and goalies on good teams that don;t give up a lot of goals.
Another option would be to add a save percentage metric that has tiers of Save percentage on any given game? I have not done the math here but
like sub .800 = -1 sub .830 = -.5 sub .850 = -.25 sub .870 = -.1 sub .890 = 0 sub .900 = .1 sub .910 = .15
so on and so forth. Again not sure what is possible in fantrax, but this could be an interesting category to add.
It would also be nice to add in a SV% based stat which both quality starts and the SV% tier accomplish.
Otherwise I think maybe goals against should be pushed to hurt more. maybe down to -.5 or -.45 and we award a touch more for saves. maybe .11 or .115? I just want bad goalie starts to hurt more. You get lit up for 5 goals on 15 shots that should be a big time minus game.
