Off-Season: Immediately following the playoffs
Training Camp: - Establish a time that rosters get down to their limits and potentially salary caps.
PLAYER DEFINITIONS

II. ROSTERS
1. There are 2 rosters for each team.
The active roster consists of 24 players, which are responsible for your all scoring; 12 Forwards, 6 defencemen, 2 goalies, and 4 reserve spots.
The prospect roster consists of 41 prospects with no positional requirements. Prospects cannot be used in a scoring capacity unless they are called up to your active roster first. Prospects who are called up to the active roster still count towards prospect roster limits. Prospects who pass their games played limits cannot be sent down once called up. See V C. "Minor League Transactions" for more details. Prospects that cross the threshold mid-season no longer take up a prospect spot, IF they are promoted to your main roster.
The players and prospects on your team must have their name and cap hit hosted on their respective roster page.
Quantity of prospect rosters will go as follows:
Year 1: 20 prospects
Year 2: 27 prospects
Year 3: 34 prospects

IV. TRANSACTIONS
All transactions must be posted in the correct thread on the RDHL board (the RDHL site will be used for disputes, eg. if there is a player/prospect claim in dispute, the claim that was posted on the boards first is entitled to that claim). Daily adds/drops begin at 1:00am E.S.T/10:00pm P.S.T.(5:00am GMT).
A). Add/Drop (players/prospects)
1. Teams may add 1 player and 1 prospect per day, year round. All claims must be players or prospects who are not owned by another Reddit Dynasty Hockey League team. Adding players for IR replacements do not count towards your 1 add per day. You may drop as many players as you want per day, year round.
2. All claims must be added on Fantrax within 24 hours of making the claim here on the site. Failure to do means said player or prospect is free to be claimed by another team.
The exemption to this rule, is players claimed who are not in the Fantrax database at the time of the claim. If this occurs, the GM making the claim must note in the post that the said prospect is NOT available in Fantrax. Once a commissioner is available to respond, the post will be noted, the commish will request the player in Fantrax, and then add that player to the respective GM's team once they are added to the database.
3. Any player or prospect who is added must remain on his respective roster for at least 5 days (beginning with the first night of eligible games for said player/prospect, and once qualified for said 5 days/nights can be dropped), regardless of whether they are an IR replacement or not.
4. Prospects whose rights belong to an NHL team (drafted or signed), or who were eligible for the 2016 Entry Draft can be claimed
B). Trades
1. Players, prospects, and/or draft picks may be traded in this league. You may not however trade salaries or any monetary compensation.
2. One GM of the trade must post the terms of the deal in the "Trades" thread under transactions. All terms of the deal including players/prospects/draft picks or conditions must be posted. The other GM in the deal must confirm the deal in a following post.
3. Conditional trades should allow a team to benefit based on the condition being met. The condition should not be used to revert the trade after a specified time period, having allowed another team to benefit during this time (i.e. player rentals). Conditions will be subject to review by the commissioner panel.
4. Conditional Trades should only consist of picks that by you already have. If you do not have access to the pick, then you can do not conditionally trade it.
5. Conditions must be quantifiable based on a player's or team's performance over the course of a season, e.g. "a player scores more than X points" or "a team finishes in the top 10".
6. Trade deadline is March 6th, 2017. There will be a trade freeze in effect until after the Waiver Draft.
C). Minor League Transactions
1. Every team is allowed to recall 1 prospect per day (teams may demote more than 1 if necessary). An open roster spot on your active roster is required to do so, or demoting a prospect to make room. Any prospect who is called up must remain on the active roster for at least 5 days (beginning with the first day/night of games that prospect is eligible for, and once qualified for said 5 days/nights can be demoted or dropped) unless he is demoted to the AHL and not playing in the NHL during that span..
2. Recalling prospects for IR replacements do not count towards your 1 add per day.
3. Prospects who play 101 games (forwards/defencemen); 51 games (goalies) played are not eligible to be sent down.
D). Injured Reserve/Suspensions
1. Injured or suspended players/prospects who are assigned to injured reserve do not count against the 24 man limit or the cap. Their replacements and their cap hit (whether it be a player add or prospect call-up) do count temporarily. Any player or prospect who is added as a replacement must remain on his respective roster for at least 5 days (beginning with the first night of eligible games for said player/prospect) before he can be dropped or demoted.)
2. An injured prospect still counts towards the 20 man limit.
V. PLAYOFFS
1. 8 teams will advance to the playoffs. The playoffs commence with the quarter-finals and will last 4 weeks. The championship will last 2 weeks. The team that wins all 3 round wins the RDHL Stanley Cup championship.
2. Playoffs commence so that the final week of our playoffs are the 2nd last week of the NHL regular season. To avoid players being healthy scratched and putting teams at a disadvantage.
VI. OFF-SEASON
1. There will be a total roster freeze until Fantrax switches over to there new season platform.
2. Once the playoffs have finished, all teams must activate their IR, suspended and Inactive players. All prospects that have graduated to players, must be called up to main roster from the minors. All prospects, on main roster, must be sent down to the minors.
3. No team can have over 34 players at the start of the offseason. You cannot add players to get yourself up to the 34 player limit. It is only in place to cover players already on your roster that are currently on active roster, on your IR, and prospects that have graduated to players
4. No team can have over 41 prospects after the entry draft. You cannot add prospects to get yourself up to the 37 prospect limit. It is only in place to cover prospects already in your minors and the prospects you pick in th entry draft.
5. There will be a deadline to get back down to the 24 players and 41 prospect limit for next season set during the offseason once the 2016-2017 schedule is announced.
6. GM's can assign injured players to IR and callup prospects once training camp begins September 15. Teams have until October 1st to be roster and cap compliant.
VII. DRAFTS
A) The Initial Draft
1. The NHL draft and the inaugural prospect draft are both snake drafts.
2. The NHL draft and inaugural prospect draft will be in reverse order.
3. Prospect drafts after the inaugural season will be pro style drafts (pick in the same spot in every round).
4. The draft rounds will go as follows:
NHL Draft: 24 rounds
Inaugural Prospect Draft: 20 rounds
Prospect Drafts Moving Forward: 7 Rounds
5. Each owner has 24 hours on the clock for every pick;
6. If you miss your pick, you are dropped 5 rounds. The next time you are on the clock you only have 12 hours to make a pick. If you miss another pick it will be put up to a league vote whether or not you should be in this league;
7. Draft picks may be traded for any draft within 2 years;
8. If an owner makes an invalid pick (Ex. If they pick an owned player), then the pick will be treated as a skipped pick and the next team will be on the clock, but the owner with the invalid pick can change the pick ASAP.
9. Please email a commissioner if you will be out of town with your selections and we will be more than happy to select your picks for you.
10. All draft picks count towards prospect roster limits. If you go over 20 prospects (off-season limit) during the draft, you'll be required to drop someone immediately following the draft to remain at 20 or under.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
B). Entry Draft
During the entry draft, we're asking each GM to do 3 things as far as commitment goes: 1. Check in as much as humanly possible (as many times as you can each day), 2. Have a list of prospects ready to go BEFORE your pick comes up, 3. Make your selection as soon as possible once logging into the site (unless you're trying to trade your draft pick).
1. The RDHL Entry Draft Lottery for the first overall pick will involve the bottom 12 teams (non-playoff teams). The winning team will be determined by using permutations for 6 numbers (ping pong balls), to come up with a set of 720 unique combinations. The combinations are:
No. Permutation
1 123456
2 123465
3 123546
4 123564
5 123645
... ...
716 654132
717 654213
718 654231
719 654312
720 654321
Full set: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1G44JVlQA2-KSYRheOZNibebCRi7WHjEATLKj0VPjkoU/
Using the full set of 6 numbers gives us these percentages based on final standing:
No. Range Count Odds
1-205 205 28.5%
206-360 155 21.5%
361-479 119 16.5%
480-558 79 11.0%
559-612 54 7.5%
613-644 32 4.4%
645-666 22 3.1%
667-684 18 2.5%
685-698 14 1.9%
699-709 11 1.5%
710-716 7 1.0%
717-720 4 0.6%
The entry draft lottery involves pulling out the numbers from the basket/hat/bowl/etc, and whichever team has been assigned the 6 digit number that the balls produce (note: the order in which the balls are selected matters), wins the lottery.
We will also do the same thing to determine the 2nd place team. If the 1st place team gets selected again in the 2nd draw, we will simply keep on redoing it until we get a new team.
2. The Entry Draft consists of 7 rounds.
3. All prospects drafted must be players who were drafted that respective year in the NHL Entry Draft (eg. 2015). All drafted players count towards your prospect limit.
4. If you miss your pick, you are dropped 5 rounds. The next time you are on the clock you only have 12 hours to make a pick. If you miss another pick it will be put up to a league vote whether or not you should be in this league
5. If a trade is made involving a draft pick, the GM acquiring the pick will be granted a 8 hour extension from the time of the transaction in order to make their selection.
6. Single picks from the same year cannot be traded (eg. 21st overall for 26th overall) as one team clearly benefits and the other does not. Either lower picks, or picks/players/prospects or players/prospects must accompany a deal for a draft pick.
7. Please email a commissioner if you will be out of town with your selections and we will be more than happy to select your picks for you.
8. There will be a prospect freeze throughout the draft. No prospect transactions allowed.
9. A set time will be pre-arranged shortly following the draft, where teams can begin to add 2015 NHL drafted prospects who went undrafted by teams in the RDHL. As in the rules above, prospects who were not drafted by actual NHL teams and are over the age of 18 are ineligible to be claimed.
10. All draft picks count towards prospect roster limits. If you go over 20 prospects (off-season limit) during the draft, you'll be required to drop someone immediately following the draft to remain at 20 or under.
11. The last place team can drop a max of 2 slots in the entry draft lottery. The first two slots are up for grabs by the percentages above.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
C). Waiver Draft
1. The league will hold a waiver draft two weeks after the end of our regular season. The waiver draft will consist of 2 rounds. It will be a draft comprised of the non-playoff teams based on the reverse order of the final standings.
2. All teams are required to protect 18 players from their active roster. Any unprotected player will then be eligible to be claimed in the waiver draft. Any team that wishes to protect 3 or more goalies may do so, but each goalie protected results in losing 1 protected player spot, 3 goalies results in 17 spots total, protecting 4 goalies results in 16 spots total, etc.)
3. Every team must post a roster of protected and unprotected players in the Waiver Draft thread.
4. Waiver draft picks are NOT eligible for trade.
5. Propsects are automatically protected form the waiver draft.
6. The trade freeze will be in effect through the Waiver Draft
7. There will be a total roster freeze 1 week prior to the waiver draft. No trades, player claims or prospect claims will be permitted during this time.
8. A team may only lose a total of 2 players during the waiver draft. Once said team has been chosen from 2 times, those players will no longer be able to be selected and stay on your roster for next season.
9. The draft order works the same way as the Entry Draft. This is not serpentine.
10. You cannot draft players from your own team.
D) Dispersal Draft
1) The Dispersal draft will be broken into two parts. The first part being a draft for players only. The second part being a draft for prospects and draft picks.
2) Both drafts will be of the snake format. The first pick of the player draft will be selected at random. The player that picks last in the player draft, will pick first in the prospect/draft pick draft.
3) In the player draft, all GMs most fill their active rosters first (12 Forwards, 6 Defensemen, 2 Goalies) before selecting their last 4 bench spots. All players not selected in this draft will go into free agency.
4) In the prospect draft, all GMs must fill all prospect slots. Once all prospect slots are full, you are only allowed to select draft picks.
5) After the dispersal draft takes place, new GMs will be allowed to participate in the Waiver Draft and will fall in line at the end of the order, starting with the team that selected first in the Prospect Draft.
VIII. INACTIVE LIST
1. If a player/prospect who is signed to an NHL contract while on a team's roster retires, signs a contract to play outside the NHL or goes unsigned, a team retains his rights for 1 year without him counting as a roster player/prospect and taking up a spot. Teams may make their "Inactive List" under the active roster for any NHL players/prospects that fall into this category.
2. You cannot add an inactive player/prospect to your roster. Your inactive list is for players/prospect that become inactive when already on your roster.
3. You can trade the rights of an inactive player/prospect. When you do the 1 year eligibility for the inactive player/prospect resets
IX. Tanking
1. There will be a three strike warning process when it comes to tanking. Tanking is qualified by the following items:
- Not setting line-ups for a H2H period
- Benching active players during a H2H period
- Benching productive players in favour of unproductive players waiver-wire calibre players
- Not maximizing a team's 24 player roster
- Not calling up productive prospects in lieu of unproductive waiver-wire calibre players
- Not calling up a productive prospect over an unproductive prospect
- Rostering players without immediate or future fantasy relevance
2. A strike will be issued if a majority of commissioners thinks you are violating one of the previously mentioned items.
3. If you are given three strikes, your best pick in the draft will automatically be pushed to the end of it's round. Example: If you have the #3 overall pick but have three strikes it is moved to the end of round one, becoming the #20 overall pick.
4. Strikes will be public knowledge. When you receive one, we will update the forums to keep track of strikes.
5. One strike will be removed form your record if you have 18 months without an infraction.
X) Inactive Teams
1) If we are within the first half of the season, an inactive team will be replaced by a new GM right away.
2) If we are in the second half of the season, an inactive team will not have an active GM for the remainder of the season and commissioners will continue to set lineups for the remainder of the season.
3) The commissioners will not make adds, drops, or trades. They will only make sure that lineups are set, injured players make it to the IR, and prospects are called up to take their place, once a week.
4) If at the end of the season, there is only one inactive team, this team will be replaced by a new GM. If at the end of the season, there are two or more inactive teams, these team’s players, prospects, and picks will enter a Dispersal Draft (see section VII. DRAFTS; C) Dispersal Draft for rules)
5) Any inactive team that makes playoffs, will be ineligible to compete for the Championship. The Championship will be contended between all active teams that finish within the top 8 in the regular season. Top teams will receive byes for the first round of the playoffs as needed to compensate for inactive teams who will not compete in the Championship. These byes will be awarded according to each team's regular season finish, with conference winners receiving the first two byes.
6) The draft picks of the inactive teams that make the playoffs, but do not compete, will not be eligible to be lottery picks and will take the first Entry Draft slots after the lottery picks. They will be given their assigned value, before the Prospect/Pick Dispersal Draft.
