Rule Change: Waivers for players who are no longer prospect eligible
Perceived Problem: Not all young players who play over 100 GP are fantasy-relevant, but we currently need to roster them or lose them for nothing.
Proposed Solution: Allow players who have over 100 GP (50 GP) to be sent back to the minors via waivers. Teams can claim a player being sent down, but must then keep them on their main roster.
I'm confused about this one actually. If they are over 100 GP, doesn't that mean they are just a player now, not a prospect. Are we suggesting that any player over 100 GP is applied to this. So if I have Mikkel Boedker and nobody wants him, I can put him in my minors if he isn't taken. Or are we saying that just prospects that just made it over 100GP for the rest of the season, they can still be put down to the minors?
When they are sent down, they are then considered prospect then? You will need to drop a prospect?
Could be wrong, but yeah I believe the proposed change is to allow all players to be sent down if they go unclaimed. You'd place Boedker on waivers, if he goes unclaimed in the set time (24 hours, 1 week, w/e you guys decide) then he can stay in your minors.
You bring up an interesting point though. If they were still considered a player, you'd still be at the active limit and this would basically do nothing. And if he's considered a prospect, you'd have to drop a prospect. I guess either players in your minors wouldn't count towards the active player limit, or we'd have to switch to "Active" and "Minor" limits rather than "Player" and "Prospect" limits. But that would be another separate change altogether.
We have officially hit a majority in favor of a waiver system for prospects. The commishes will come up with a few options for this and we will put out another vote.
